Android Taking Over iPhone In Future Consumer Buy Plans

Change Wave 01

A recent survey by ChangeWave shows that Android has overtaken the iPhone as the mobile OS that smart phone buyers plan to buy in 2010. In Dec 2009 it is Android’s 21 percent vs iPhone’s 28 percent and fast forward to March 2010 and Android tops interest to 30 percent while iPhone’s at 29 percent. A mere 1 percent win but a win is a win.

This trend shows that Android will be a growing threat to the iPhone OS X. The other competing platforms such as RIM, Windows Mobile saw a drop in interest. In the satisfaction area though the iPhone leads at 76 percent while Android is a near second with 65 percent.

Games To Be Removed From Android Market In South Korea

Android South Korea

Google is going to pull all games from the Android Market in South Korea in a month’s time - the reason is because the country’s regulatory system prohibits games from being sold before being rated. Google took this decision because it was impossible to have all games sold on Android rated by the local regulator.

Apple ran a similar exclusion of games in its App Store for iPhone users but South Korean iPhone users could still create a secondary account outside of Korea and be able to download the games available. South Korean game software makers also found a loophole by listing their games in the entertainment category of the App Store. We’ll probably see the same thing happen to games on the Android market.

Adobe Flash - One Web Any Screen Promotional Video

Adobe Flash One Web

Adobe is showcasing their latest technology in this promotional video as they present Flash 10.1 on the new Dell 5 tablet, Dell 12 smartbook(Latitude Xt2), Palm Pre, Nexus One, Motoroloa Droid and HP mini 311 netbook.

Adobe is delivering a message that Adobe Flash is coming to the different smartphone platforms as at current very few mobile devices support it. One Web, Any Screen - whether you like it or not, Flash will play an important part in our web usage as it will be used for playing games, media entertainment, learning tools and many others.

Apple has rejected Flash on the iPhone and it is speculated that it will harm their business model of the app store as many applications would be able to be played for free in Flash. When the Android or Windows Mobile phones embrace it, Apple would have no choice to follow suit or lose the competitive edge of being Flash-enabled.

iDisplay App Allows Secondary Screens With iPad or iPhone

iDisplay

If you’re one of those who uses Apple and secondary screens, the iDisplay is the app for you. It can tranform your iPad or iPhone into a secondary monitor for your Mac via Wifi. Since the data is sent via Wifi the latency would not allow smooth play of videos or games. It would be ideal for applications such as instant messaging, document processing and image editing.

According to Head of Development Alex Makarov of Shape Services:

“iDisplay grew out of an in-house idea. All of us have two or more monitors on our systems at our workplace. It was natural to make an external monitor out of our iPhone devices.” Makarov pointed out that external hardware monitors represent a significant investment compared to using a spare iPad or iPhone, plus these devices are highly portable, adding extra screen space on-the-go.

It cost $4.99 and though it is not as stable as it should be, we’ll be looking at updates of the app soon.
