The news on the v1.1.2 firmware upgrade has been announced at a special meeting with the UK Apple press team on 8th November morning. So much for all those phone unlockings from jailbreakme.com’s AppSnapp. For those who are already running the firmware upgrade on their phone, a UK user said the update will add multi-language support as well as access to The Cloud WiFi spots. Nothing has been heard about the matter on the iPhone Jailbreak software from the Apple conference but is widely believed that the famed Installer.app will be blocked once again.

Apple has stated that unlocking the iPhone would permanently damage it but that won’t deter hackers from breaking the code. A consumer warning from Apple was that buy an ‘unlocked’ at your own risk since most cell phones are sold in the United States tied to the carrier. Usually Apple would release software updates to prevent others from hacking its products but the unlocking program used by some of the hackers permanently damages the software.

The fact that the Apple iPhone came with AT&T’s old EDGE wireless data network has aroused critics’ argument that the EDGE data service is simply too slow for many Internet tasks. Although the iPhone has the ability to use Wi-Fi to diminish this limitation, but this only becomes an option when there is a Wi-Fi network.
As a move to quiet down critics who were unimpressed by the 2.5G EDGE Technology, Apple plans to release a 3G / GPS iPhone next year. The new 3G iPhone is expected to include features like global positioning for navigation services. Sources say Apple has tapped Broadcom’s Global Locate unit to supply chips for the phone.
