Net Applications, a research firm takes a look at the web market share for mobile browsing for cellphones in February and showed that the iPhone operating system is trouncing its competitors with a 66.6% share. Java ME came in second with 9.06%, Windows Mobile third with 6.91% while Android and Symbian settles for a 6.15%.
iPhone is literally without competition in the smartphone traffic in the US, however it was noted that the achievements of Android and BlackBerry was praise worthy since they were only available at a later date and Android even manage to tie in with Symbian.

Bored with your iPhone? You can turn it now into a gun simulator thanks to RnSK Bang Bang iPhone app which recreates the sound of several firearms using authentic Holluwood special effects. I have mixed feelings about it as this app could mislead youngsters on the dangers of guns while if people would just take it non-serious it could just be some mayhem fun.
RnSK Softronics says that each gun is carefully crafted all the way down to the specific look, realistic options and unique animations of the real world gun they’re based on. There’s even a safety to keep things responsible. It has undoubtly got the approval from Apple and it’s currently available in the App Store.

An article called ‘Why The Japanese Hate The iPhone‘ from Wired by Brian Chen recently made controversy when it seemed that he didn’t get his facts right by compiling information from an older unrelated article.
He quoted Nobuyuki Hayashi a freelance journalist based in Tokyo (known as Nobi) as saying his choice of cellular weapon was the Panasonic P905i, a fancy cellphone that doubles as a 3-inch TV, features 3-G, GPS, a 5.1-megapixel camera and motion sensors for Wii-style games. This actually came from an older article titled ‘In Japan, Cellphones Have Become Too Complex To Use‘ and he only took the correct words to amplify his reason why the Japanese hate the iPhone while in fact Nobuyuki pointed out fatal flaws of the P905i such as choppy TV and signals in the subway and others. He even stressed that the usability of Japanese phones are so low due to many fancy features and gimmick that the iPhone has so much potential in the Japanese market.
The misleading article seemed to aim at the Japanese attitude towards the iPhone where they think its lame to own one but the iPhone itself is not doing too bad according to Nobuyuki. He goes on to take a detailed look at the Japanese market and how Softbank is pushing its marketing efforts for the iPhone - one of which recently is the free iPhone for a two year contract promotion.
Read on the full article from the man himself, Nobi as he presents his view on how the iPhone is doing in Japan.

SoftBank, the Japanese wireless carrier is offering a free 8GB iPhone 3G for those who sign up for a new two year contract before the end of May 31. Meanwhile the 16GB will be sold at only US$119 and there is even a monthly installment plan which comes out to less than $5 a month during the two year service agreement. In comparison to the US, the iPhone 3G is still $199 for 8GB and $299 for 16GB.
Speculations has been made that SoftBank might be struggling to fulfill its promised sales golas for Apple given the worldwide economic crisis or simply could be a way for SoftBank to clear out its inventory in advance of a new iPhone which may arrive this Summer.
